Publication of modified or new reference measurement procedures
JCTLM has a requirement that a nominated Reference Measurement Procedure (RMP) be published in a peer-reviewed journal. This requirement also applies to modifications to an existing published RMP or a new RMP similar to an existing published RMP. Within the field of measurements science, even small changes to methods can impact the accuracy and uncertainty of results, and the modifications need to be documented and their impact on the measurement results validated.
The JCTLM is supporting scientists developing and validating both new and modified RMPs by promoting the importance of publications of these procedures in the peer-reviewed Journal community. The following journals have indicated that they are receptive to receiving such manuscripts:
Journals wishing to be listed in this section should write to the JCTLM (jctlm@bipm.org) stating that they meet the following requirements:
- They are open to receiving and submitting to the usual review process manuscripts that report modifications to an existing published RMP, or a new RMP that is similar to an existing published RMP.
- The Journal has a track record and editorial board expertise in identifying reviewers for manuscripts describing RMPs for laboratory medicine or is establishing a process for reviewing such manuscripts.
They should also provide contact details for authors wishing to submit manuscripts.
