New Chairperson of the JCTLM Appointed

UPDATE

Professor Mauro Panteghini has been elected as the Chairman of the Joint Committee for Traceability in Laboratory Medicine (JCTLM) by its Executive Committee during the JCTLM Annual Meeting held on December 4, 2024. The appointment acknowledges his exceptional qualifications and long-standing contributions to the field of standardization in laboratory medicine and the work of the JCTLM

Professor Panteghini succeeds Dr. Greg Miller, whose four-year tenure concludes at the end of 2024.

Under Dr. Miller’s remarkable leadership, the JCTLM achieved significant milestones, including the development of new committee websites, the introduction of a machine-readable database, and the successful hosting of a stakeholder meeting that addressed critical challenges and outlined the committee’s future direction.

As the JCTLM welcomes Professor Panteghini, the Executive Committee also expresses its deepest gratitude to Dr. Miller for his invaluable service and dedication.

About Prof. Mauro Panteghini

Professor Panteghini is currently a professor at the Bydgoszcz Collegium Medicum, Nicolaus Copernicus University Torun, Poland. He previously served as the Director of the Chair of Clinical Biochemistry and Clinical Molecular Biology at the Medical School of the University of Milan, Italy and as the Scientific coordinator of the Research Centre for Metrological Traceability in Laboratory Medicine (CIRME) at the University of Milan.

On his appointment, Professor Panteghini said, “My priority is to work towards further highlighting the important practical impact and the value added (through the information provided by JCTLM) in terms of standardization of laboratory results, and therefore in promoting patient safety.”
